NEW PROGRAMS FOR 2019-20
LUMSDEN, SK. - QU’APPELLE VALLEY NORDIC (QVN) SKI CLUB IS PLEASED TO OFFER THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMMING:
When snow comes – Cross country skiing lessons. Jackrabbit for kids aged 6 to 12. Adult learn to ski as snow permits.
*Note: Biathlon is an Olympic sport combining cross country skiing with rifle marksmanship.
Ages 8 -12 use pellet rifles.
Ages 12 and up use .22 caliber target rifles.
Firearms safety training is mandatory.
FALL AND WINTER PROGRAMMING
Programming available for those aged 8 – 88
Annual fee is $250 or $125/session
Fall Session: September 15 – December 22
Winter Session: January 5 – March 29
Coaches will offer athletes 3 practices per week where they will explore dryland training, rollerskiing, shooting fundamentals, biathlon competition shooting, and on-snow skiing.
We offer programming to both recreational and competitive athletes, where athletes have the freedom to attend any or all practices.
Practice locations will be dependent on the skills to be practiced, and could include QVN’s facility, other locations in Lumsden, or Regina.

Learn To Cross Country Ski Program
Objective is for children to learn basic cross country ski skills & to instill a lifelong interest in the sport & to enhance their quality of life & health
For: Ages 5-12
When: Sundays 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. (December –March)
Lessons are scheduled to begin December 10 weather permitting (see note below)
Where: At QVN facility in Lumsden
Cost: $40 per child plus QVN membership ($25)
Gear: Must have own cross country skis & poles

QVN encourages parents to have a membership if they will be on site and/or helping with lessons. Parent helpers and/or prospective coaches welcome!!
QVN and Cross Country Saskatchewan rules don't allow Jackrabbit lessons to be offered below -20 with wind chill. Current Weather conditions in Lumsden are found below. Click on the link below an look for the 'feels like' temperature. If it is below -20 at 2pm on Sunday then the Jackrabbit lesson is cancelled for that day.
